Why is my computer running slow?

Computers are very powerful machines, but just like other devices, they have broken down at some point. Amongst the things that many people experience with their computers. It can be frustrating when your computer is running slow because it takes longer to get tasks done and this can leave you over the edge and can also lead to lots of wasted time. Most of these issues can be resolved, but what exactly leads to the slow running of computers?

Software updates

Software updates are some of the most common causes for a computer running slow yet they are very important. Most cause temporary slowdown to your system as they continue launching in the background.

Low Disk Space

All Modern Operating Systems use a part of hard disk space as temporary storage called virtual memory, which help OS to Extend the computer memory needed while running many applications and tasks. Every time you install new application or running programs they create Temporary files, Cache files on Hard Disk, Deleting files actually just moving them to the recycle bin on the same hard disk until confirm to empty the recycle bin. When your hard drive fills up too much, the free disk space that helps the OS is become smaller and then the system performance start suffering.

Windows Registry

Windows Registry is a database repository of information pertaining to a computer's configuration, each Windows Registry computer settings or activities such as installing and uninstalling software, modifying displaying settings, audio levels and even adjusting the browser window size creates entries and keys within the registry database. When these keys are no longer used after the application is uninstalled, upgraded or modified they are often not deleted and leave vacant spaces or registry holes in the computer registry.
These all activities on huge increased size of registry database lead to unexpected, erratic, and decreased PC performance which results in the computer running slow, errors, hangs and crashes.
The safest and easiest way to fix registry errors by using registry cleaner software.
An advanced registry cleaner performs deep scans to eliminate obsolete and invalid entries, registry holes, and fragments located deep in the registry.
Registry cleaners will also make a backup of the registry should the user ever need to restore the registry of the last known working state if there is a problem. The result will be a clean, defragmented registry with contiguous files that gives the computer faster data access.

Too many open apps

Each application you open reserve number of resources from your computer as memory and execution process on CPU and other IO devices on computer, CPU processes all schedule task at small amount of time, as more open application still running and working on the desktop or in the background as more time needed to finish each task. Quit all apps that you are not using and work with as few open apps as possible every time.

Not Enough RAM

Because the limit storage of RAM, OS always free RAM from the finished closed application to reuse this space with new applications.
If OS needs more memory for running programs it reserve some free space found in HDD as a virtual memory and start using it beside the real RAM, and will slow the computer because HDD is more slow that RAM in Reading data.

Old of computer

If your computer is more than 5 years old, it can't perform well with new released of OS and programs, some time it can't even run them, that mean it's time to have a new computer.
